Custom Plant Insert Case Study
We were contacted to design permanent botanical inserts in a new restaurant in a prominent well-known skyscraper in the heart of The Loop, Chicago. We were to utilize existing built-in planters behind stand-alone banquettes which had many intricate details and unusual angles and curves.

Careful study of the floor plan and elevation revealed some simple rectangular planters, but also many complex curved planters with cutouts and intricate details.
The discovery phase required multiple discussions regarding requirements, styling, and plant options. Our design team created the magic, and a simple sample section was produced.

As always, we used our talent and techniques to deviate around obstacles and developed a printed to-scale template to guide the production. The template allowed us to work off-site and create multiple intricate, stable plantscape foundations in sections.

For impact, each modular section was designed and completed with layers of different plant heights, colors, and textures. The inserts were fully styled, labeled, securely packed, and delivered.

Onsite, our client unpacked all of the labeled inserts, followed our simple installation instructions, and easily placed the pieces into the designated planters.
