Colorful 80s style illustration saying Gen XHOME ALONE: Design for an Independent Generation.

The main focus is on Gen X, as they age, and how their changing lifestyle is dictating a movement. We will discuss HOUSING, UNIVERSAL DESIGN, and AGING-IN-PLACE modifications that are pushing and redefining design boundaries. Join our group discussion to experience how designers are contributing to these important and popular topics.
For the first time, fifty percent of the population is over 50 and not ready to retire. The ‘latchkey kids’, a.k.a. Gen X or MTV generation, grew up mostly independent and self-reliant in a ‘free-range parental’ household. Different from their Baby Boomer parents, this group is now focused on how to live the next 50 years, ideally on their own, while being mindful of PREPAREDNESS, UNIVERSAL DESIGN, TECHNOLOGY, ADAPABILITY, and AMENITIES.

White cannabis leaf sculptures and a green wall peace sign on a green and blue wall.HIGH DESIGN: DESIGNING FOR A NEW CANNABIS CULTURE

We will dive into the best practices and considerations when designing today’s modern dispensary. Getting creative with the vibe, we discuss topics including strategic merchandising, the importance of customer privacy, technology considerations, and the significance of the brand experience. Presently, over 75% of the United States has adopted the legal use of marijuana for recreational and/or medical purposes. With its emergence from the shadows of the law, it's getting a total makeover. No area of Cannabis culture has seen (or needed) a bigger change than the interiors of dispensaries. Traditionally, they have been non-designed with a low profile. Now, get ready for chic retail lounges that are supported by a multi-billion-dollar industry.
